A HOW-TO FOR OUTDOOR PATIO STYLING
While the patio season in Calgary may be short, we always look to make the most of it. Our outdoor spaces are just extensions of our homes and as we look forward to another summer, here are some styling tips to make your outdoor spaces comfortable, trendy and reflective of your personal style.
PATIO FURNITURE
Outdoor furniture has come a long way; clean modern lines, beautiful fabrics and durable materials allow us to select furniture that blends seamlessly with the inside design of our homes. We can create a welcoming outdoor space for everyone to relax and enjoy those lazy summer evenings.
Selecting a variety of furniture pieces, such as individual armchairs paired with a larger sofa or loveseat option, will provide ample and flexible seating for your outdoor get-together's. It also works perfectly for a more intimate family night under the stars.

AREA RUGS
An outdoor area rug is a wonderful way to define our outdoor living space and add intentional layering while adding texture to the patio.
While I have used a more neutral palate for our backyard area rug, you could also use this as an opportunity to add a fun pop of color, a bold pattern or even use multiple rug sizes to further personalize your backyard space.

PILLOWS & THROWS
Adding chic accents, patterned fabrics and layered textiles throughout the space will add to the visual appeal and overall function of any patio. Think about adding a beautiful basket filled with cozy blankets for all of your guests for those cooler summer nights.

PLANTERS
No matter how big or small your patio space may be, planters can add color, fragrance and depth to any outdoor space. By using a variety of plant types and pot sizes, these can be easily rearranged and updated throughout the season.
You can reach out to any of your local greenhouses, as they will also be able to make recommendations for plants suitable to your local climate zones and those best for your specific backyard ecosystem.

FIREPITS & LIGHTING
There are many ways to add ambiance to your backyard, patio and deck, but the addition of a fire pit to your space automatically creates a sense of comfort and intimacy.
There are many options to choose from - permanent wood burning fireplaces or more portable selections like fire tables or bowls - but each will allow you to extend the usefulness and functionality of your outdoor space, especially on those cooler summer evenings.

In addition, by using exterior lighting – either simple string lighting draped throughout the yard or with the installation of something more permanent (like our Gemstone Lights) on your home itself – you have the flexibility to enjoy your backyard well after the sun goes down.
