I think my love for Gemstone Lights really stems from my love for Christmas. We really enjoy driving around looking at Christmas lights and exploring new neighbourhoods during the holidays. The only thing I didn’t love about Christmas lights was the work that went into setting up lights or taking them down. It’s a lot!

Although, I was originally attracted to them for Christmas, I’ve learned that Gemstone Lights are incredible all year round. They have lights and displays for every season: Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, summer BBQ’s, Pride, Halloween and more! There are many amazing architectural looks and I’m obsessed with the vibe they add to my patio space. They are definitely more than just Christmas lights and my family loves trying out new displays every chance we get.
I will say that I love how BRIGHT Gemstone Lights are. They are LED lights which are incredibly efficient. Depending on colour, they draw anywhere from 0.17 watts to 0.72 watts per light. Because they are LED’s, they will last on average 50,000 hours – basically 5-6 hours a day for 20 plus years! If for some reason they stop working or something goes wrong, Gemstone offers a full 5-year warranty on their products. If necessary, their lights are easy to service as each light is individually connected with a water-proof connector.
There is an app from Gemstone Lights that you can download onto your phone from either the apple store or from google play. You can either choose from a downloadable folder with predesigned patterns or you can create your own patterns. The app gives you the ability to control each and every individual light. Want a certain shade of pink? No problem! Want every 3rd, 18th, and 27th light a certain colour? No problem! Are the lights too bright for you? No problem! You can also set timers relative to time or sunset/sunrise! And as long as you have an internet connection, you can control from anywhere!
Our experience with Gemstone Lights has been the absolute best. They are fully certified and have passed all electrical certifications for Canada and the United States. Gemstone Lights are set in a colour matched track that mounts to the underside of your soffit. This is important as it shines the light downward and beautifully lights up the house. Now that we’ve had the lights for a couple of months, I’ve realized that I love the security that these lights bring. To us, it’s important for our home to look and feel warm and inviting but at the same time, we want them to deter unwelcomed ‘guests’.
The last thing I want to mention is the staff at the Gemstone Lights Calgary office. We loved having them around our home for installation day and found every single person we have spoken with to be extremely helpful and kind. They are the loveliest group of people. Everyone was so knowledgeable and caring. Even Isla was so sad to see them go! Not everyone entertains the stories and questions of a 6-year-old girl and they did! I honestly just can’t say enough about them.
