INSPIRATION FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. and it is almost upon us again. Not sure if everyone is feeling the same – that this holiday has some how crept up on us – but I couldn’t be more excited to enjoy the season with my family and loved ones.

I think it is the hopefulness and joy the season brings, that I am looking forward to the most. Or maybe the delicious food and drink, I hope to be able to share with the most important people in my life? So, how ever you choose to celebrate, I hope you find enjoyment and a little inspiration in some of the ways you can bring the festivities into your homes for the holiday season.

HOLIDAY TABLES

Whether it is a few delicate taper candles, or a collection of plates and serving ware layered with a vintage-styled napkin, or a small personalized touch for each of your guests, a beautifully set Christmas table always sets the scene.

DÉCOR IDEAS

One of my favorite ways to get children involved in some of the holiday decorating, is to have multiple trees throughout your home. It gives you (and them) the flexibility to decorate “their” tree to their own abilities, with ornaments of their choosing, with home-made garlands and even their own DIY crafts and it truly captures the magic and whimsy of the season.

COLOR SCHEMES

I love the simplicity and timelessness of a silver & gold palate for the holidays – and it always pairs so beautifully with any home's décor.

I am loving this year’s natural trend, which utilizes a sophisticated combination of these greens, reds and navy blues, with a subtle pop of gold - I just love the drama it exudes. I can just see the most elegant dinner parties happening at these tables - can’t you?

GREENERY

Whether you are in the real or faux tree camp, there is no debate that the smell of fresh cut boughs is something that can’t be beaten. Bringing in some fresh greenery either on the table, as a special accent for a holiday feast or as a focal point on a mantle piece or railing, fresh greens always brings any décor choice to life.

As a beautiful alternative, birch branches, small floral arrangements or even eucalyptus garlands and magnolia wreaths are a lovely way to create the same effect.

LIGHTING

Whether it is the shimmer of lights from the Christmas tree, lighted candles on your table or a cracking fire, you can easily create ambiance and warmth in any space with these easy to execute designs.

SUSTAINABILITY

Does everyone remember garbage bags full of wrapping paper and bows at the end of a chaotic morning of opening Christmas presents? While there is something to be said for ripping open that special gift, there are earth-friendly ways to keep that gift a secret, that I just love and it just goes to prove, that sustainability can be just as beautiful.
