I finally did it! I hosted the most incredible boho backyard get together for 25 women I have never met in person. I know that sounds crazy, and trust me, I was super nervous, but it was pure MAGIC. These women have showed up for me countless times over the years on my Instagram page. When I struggled with my newborn, they were there. The many times I felt like a bad mom after a hard week, they cheered me on. I have had countless convos with them about life, friendships, parenting and more. It's a strange thing to lean on someone and never meet them in person and so I decided to make it happen! I wanted them to feel as special and as loved as they make me feel on a daily basis. I hope I inspire you to gather together with the people in your circle because connection adds so much richness to our lives.
Putting on an event like this is a lot of work and I had some INCREDIBLE local companies step up to help me! Have I mentioned how much I love our community?!
Orange Trunk Vintage Styling and Rentals provided the decor for our night and Heather nailed the backyard boho vibe I was going for. She has an insane collection of pillows, dishes and more that add so much character and charm. In my opinion the coloured glasses really made the table! If you are looking for larger pieces like beautiful velvet sofas and chairs, dressers, or tables, she has those too!
I love good food and I love good wine so I wanted to make sure my guests were taken care of this way. City and Country Urban Winery and Tasting Bar provided us with bottles of red, white, blush and fruity sangria! There was something for everyone! If you haven't checked out their winery here in Calgary you need to go. They make their own amazing wine on site and the venue is set up for tastings. They even have juice flights for kids which means yes, it is kid friendly! A perfect date place if you ask me. Their sangria is called SHAREgria and a large part of the proceeds, around half, are donated to mealshare. Such a great cause!
Our yummy and oh so beautiful charcuterie boxes came from Food Works, a local catering company who specializes in providing fresh, seasonal, and local cuisine in the most stunning way. These charcuterie boxes honestly were a true work of art, but I'm not surprised! Husband and wife team Garret and Sarah have decades of experience in the industry and have worked under some very esteemed people. Garret even trained in France! This talented team caters weddings, corporate events, custom events like mine and even has private chef services. That might be next on my list! ;
Nothing makes an event more special and personal than a customized gift to take home. The talented Kim from boxSMITH put together the loveliest wooden gift boxes for each guest complete with their name engraved on the lid. The boxes were filled with some of my fav local products. Her business is a go-to of mine around the holidays and for special occasions like a birthday, graduation or a birth. She also thoughtfully designs boxes and gifts for corporate clients and weddings. I have a keepsake box for each of my girls and I love storing my most cherished items inside!
Last but not least are the gorgeous bouquets of flowers on the tables. Karla from Black Earth Floral is truly a master at what she does. The textures, colours and overall vibe of the bouquets she carefully created were everything I had dreamed of and so much more. I felt like I had just entered a gorgeous wedding when I looked at the finished setup because of Karla's flowers. All I could think was WOW!!! I will definitely be using Black Earth Floral for all of my future events and anytime I need a beautiful bouquet!
