AT HOME (EASY ON THE WALLET) BEAUTY HACKS THAT WILL SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE
We've heard them all right? Wacky, messy beauty hacks that I, myself definitely do not have the time for. That being said, some of the hacks I have come across truly have saved me time and money- so I've decided to share them with you!
TAME THOSE FLYAWAYS
Tired of trying (and failing) to tame those stubborn fly-aways along your parting or hairline? Are they ruining your sleek pony tail? Do the baby hairs on your hairline mimic female sideburns? If so, here is the simplest most genius solution that wont cost you a penny, as it's probably already sitting in your makeup bag. CLEAR MASCARA. Commonly used as of late, to control unruly eyebrows, the product is truly multi-purpose. Simply comb over your stubborn baby hair with the product-coated mascara wand, and continue layering until your mane cooperates! This trick is my favourite when trying to achieve a glamourous sleek pony tail. The bonus? Mascara doesn't break down without water- unlike hairspray which somehow always disappears throughout the day! Which means everything stays in place until your next wash!
MAKE THIS SWAP AND SAVE
I've been doing this for years! It not only protects my skin while using disposable razors, but multi-use products allow for less clutter in my shower. Simply swap out your shaving cream OR if you've been dry shaving- it's time to step up your game. Using conditioner instead of shaving foam has saved me from red bumps, razor burn and even those painful cuts around the ankles since I made the switch. Best part is, a tiny amount goes a long way. This hack saves you another unnecessary purchase at the drugstore. Give it a try- you'll never go back!
IF YOU TRY ONE BEAUTY TREND IN 2021.. TRY THIS
Soap.. to style EYEBROWS? Trust me. It's a game-changer. 2020 brought us the return of the "Bushy Brow.." A real bummer for those of us who have lived through one (or two) rounds of the "over-plucking" trend. If you're not daring enough to try a permanent fix such as microblading or other forms of brow tattooing, give this hack a go. You'll be shocked at the youthfulness a full, "bushy" brow can create. Simply wet your soap bar under the tap. (Transparent bars work best as they don't leave any residue*) Next, run your lash spoolie OR an old tooth brush over your bar of soap and then brush directly through brows. You'll find the soap dries very quickly- no need to panic though! Dampen your toothbrush or spoolie for added control and easy reshaping!
TRAIN YOUR LIPSTAIN
So simple, yet an extremely useful hack. If you're anything like me, you reserve lipstick for a quick photo opp. rather than a night out on the town. Reason being? Getting it to stay put can prove to be impossible. Next time you're feeling extra bold and go to reach for your lipstick, TRY THIS. Apply your lipstick OVER TOP of a tissue. Place a thin tissue against your lips and apply your lipstick on top in a tapping motion. This provides the perfect amount of smudge-proof pigment that isn't going ANYWHERE anytime soon. And because the product isn't being applied directly to your lips- it's nearly impossible to overdo it, so product doesn't have a chance to settle, bleed or crease!
Last, but absolutely not least. This hack has saved me more time than any other beauty hack I've come across in my years of blogging. Having fine hair I have always been forced to shampoo at least 2-3 times a week. Being a mom of two littles, there are many days where I simply don't have the time! My stylist taught me this hack and it has truly allowed me to get by with only one or two shampoo's a week. Instead of waiting until your hair is feeling greasy and ready for a wash to apply your favourite dry shampoo, apply IMMEDIATELY once your hair has dried from the shower. You heard me right! Apply a generous amount of dry shampoo to freshly cleaned hair as a preventative measure. If the product is present BEFORE a sweaty workout or prior to three nights of sleep, it can begin absorbing natural oils and sweat before our hair does. This keeps hair cleaner for days longer, and has freed up an extra morning or two for me, each week!
