Having Noa has been the best addition to our family in so many ways, but since Noa came into our lives, Isla hasn’t had much one-on-one time with me. She recently drew a photo showing my husband and I fawning over Noa while she stood to the side with a broken heart. To say this broke my heart is a major understatement, so, I decided to take Isla away for a little mother-daughter date to make her feel special!
Nestled in the mountains just 45 minutes west of Calgary is one of our favourite places; Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. I booked Isla and I a 1-Bedroom Bi-Level Loft that has a stunning view of the mountains. This is by far my favourite type of room at the resort and I highly suggest you ask for a fireplace when booking your stay!
After we checked in, we went for a walk around the grounds to explore and take in the views. There is a beautiful ice rink in the courtyard where you can rent a pair of skates. Even though Isla can’t skate due to her broken arm, we wanted to venture out and have some fun. She had a blast climbing the snow hills around the rink and gliding across the ice in her boots while holding my hand. She definitely wasn't going to let a broken arm hold her back!
Once we got back to our room it was time for sweat pants and room service - I'm sure we all agree that this is the best part! We ordered dinner, lit the fire and turned on a movie. It was so nice to have a night with just Isla devoted to laughing, relaxing and spending quality time together. She kept saying it was the best night ever.
Now, I know a lot of you are concerned about leaving your homes during this specific time, but Isla and I felt so comfortable at Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. The capacity is reduced right now and we seriously felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are sanitizing stations around every corner and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was clean and safe.
