We moved into our new house this year and one of our favorite parts about it is the backyard. We have incredible views, so much privacy and a whole lot of space. My husband and I decided it was a perfect weekend to spend some quality time together outside and so we bundled the kids up and headed out.
Our backyard was recently landscaped and we created the perfect little fire pit area. We love roasting marshmallows together and drinking hot chocolate! Isla was so proud of the snowman she built and Noa loved watching the chaos of it all!
This is by far my favourite time of year because there is such an emphasis on special moments and making memories. While I was laughing with Isla today, I stopped to look at the snow glistening in her hair. It made me think back to third grade when I got my first pair of glasses. I put those glasses on for the first time and looked at the tree outside. I could actually see the details of those leaves and it was incredible. I had no idea I was missing out on so much beauty.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with IRIS these past couple years as one of their ambassadors and they have taught me so much about eye health and the importance of getting your eyes checked regularly. Without clear vision, you could be missing out on so many incredible moments with your children. I can’t imagine not being able to see the flecks of gold in Isla’s eyes or the little freckles on Noa’s skin. It’s those tiny pieces of the big picture that mean the most to us.
We finished off the afternoon with a snowball fight and I got my fair share of exercise pulling the girls around on the sled. I’m so thankful for moments like these and I’ll never take the beautiful details I see in our everyday life for granted.
