SUPPORT YOUR IMMUNITY AND SURVIVE COLD AND FLU SEASON THIS YEAR!

This post was written in partnership with @jamiesoncanada. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Can you believe it’s November already? School is in session and mother-nature can’t decide if it’s fall or winter.  Pumpkin spice everything has been replaced with flavours of peppermint and gingerbread (which of course I love). But when the temperature drops, expect the dreaded cold & flu season to be right around the corner. With all of the holiday entertaining that happens this time of year, you want to stay as healthy as possible!

This year with Isla in kindergarten, I wanted to be ready for all of the germs that she would likely be sharing with my husband and I. I started incorporating health supplements into my daily routine to support my immune system and I’m excited to share their benefits with you!

Here are a couple of vitamins my husband and I take daily (and some we use when we aren’t so lucky at avoiding germs) and why they’re all so awesome.

A row of oranges placed along a wooden cutting board next to a bottle of vitamin C.

Jamieson Chewable Vitamin C is a pleasant must-have in our household. It’s full of antioxidants which help maintain overall good health and help to support the immune system. As a parent, I love Jamieson chewables not only because of the taste but because there are no artificial colours or flavours! You can find vitamin c in a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, but there will be times when your immune system needs support and these are easy to take and delicious.

Jamieson Vitamin D3 is another favourite of ours. Like vitamin c, Jamieson Vitamin D3 helps support the immune system and overall health. More importantly however, it encourages strong bone health by aiding with the absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Since our family doesn’t eat a lot of dairy products, we need all the help we can get with absorbing the proper nutrients.

A bottle of echinacea and a mushroom complex sitting on a kitchen counter next to a vase of eucalyptus.

Have you ever heard of a Mushroom Complex? Neither had I until recently. We’ve now added it to our list of must-haves! The Jamieson Mushroom Complex is a boss blend consisting of Reishi, Lion’s Mane, Shiitake and Chaga mushrooms formulated with garlic. Not only does this supplement support your immune system, but it increases energy! Because we live in Canada, I find this a necessity during the winter months when the sun all but disappears, along with my energy. I often find myself wanting to hibernate with Netflix and a hot tea. This complex can be used as a tonic to help regenerate liver cells as well. With the holiday party season fast approaching, that might be a good idea!

Now if you do need help fighting off the first signs of a cold or flu (think scratchy throat or stuffy nose), go straight for the Jamieson Chewable Cold Fighter. This is a combination of 4 powerful ingredients echinacea, ginger, vitamin c & zinc all wrapped up in a once-a-day soothing, tablet. Not only will this product help to fight colds, flus & upper respiratory tract infections, but it will shorten their duration all while relieving symptoms. As a parent, I don’t get any sick days and if there’s a supplement that shortens and relieves my symptoms, I’m definitely taking!

If you find yourself not needing the full support of the hero above, you can get the Jamieson Echinacea Vitamin all on its own which is an extra strength organic formula with a high potency of 1,200 mg of echinacea purpurea. The duration of your cold & flu will definitely be shortened!  Another great helper with symptoms is Jamieson’s Zinc Lozenges, a good source of antioxidants that help soothe our dry, sore throats. The best part is that there’s no aftertaste.

We’re a busy family so when one of us gets sick, you can be sure the whole household is sure to follow suit. I hate watching my little girls suffer and my husband and I don’t often have the luxury of taking “days off” to nurse ourselves back to health. I need to make sure we take the proper supplements required to support our immune systems and support a healthy body. That way we can continue living our best lives!

Do you have any cold & flu fighting favourites?
