HOW TO CREATE THE ULTIMATE KIDS PLAY SPACE

Toy storage, activity spaces, and last but by no means least... the fun factor. Here is my essential guide to creating the ultimate playroom.

1. BOOK NOOK

Trust me, there is no easier way to get your children excited about reading and homework than one of these incredible spaces. Having a corner dedicated and decorated for story time will probably become the most used space in your child's playroom!

2. HANGING CHAIRS AND SWINGS

Okay now I seriously want to play! These swings and hanging chairs will entertain the kids for hours on end. It's one of the simplest additions to making any play space more magical!

3. KID'S KITCHENS

A classic kid's play kitchen is a must have. Ikea sells a super affordable version that has become a staple in most children's toy rooms! But why not step it up a bit? Make it a family project! Paint the cupboards and add wallpaper to drawers and shelves for a pint-sized custom kitchen!

4. WALLPAPERS AND MURALS

Hire a local artist or spend a Saturday with the kids upgrading their play space! Get creative! Cut up wallpaper to create your own shapes and patterned designs or even let the kids go wild with the paint! Most wallpaper companies have peel and stick decals now that come on and off with no damage. Instagram is the perfect place to source locally available wall-sized murals as well as young and fun kid-friendly wallpaper prints!

5. CHALK BOARDS AND MAGNETIC LETTER BOARDS

Another way to get your kids excited about learning is incorporating reading and writing right into their playtime! What better way than to add a chalk-paint wall or a giant magnet board for kids to practice their letters and numbers in an exciting, playful way! These spaces also make for an organized place to display your children's art and free up the fridge!

6. CRAFT & SNACK DESK OR TABLE SPACE

An absolutely necessary addition to any playroom. Add a table space for arts and crafts, snacks, and homework! Decorate with cups or jars filled with coloured pens, pencils and craft supplies and make school-work at home WAY more fun! For snack time, keep all the mess in one hidden, easy-to-clean place!
