As most of you may know, I'm slightly obsessed with anything interior design and I love building homes! I mean I've built two in the last 7 years alone and 3 since I've lived in Calgary. We love walking through new showhomes in different communities to see what options are out there and of course we love sharing our finds with friends and family. I’ve been trying to convince my parents to move to the city for years now and we just had our second baby. Perfect excuse, right?! It takes a village!
Well we recently came across affordable, luxury townhomes from Trico Homes in the south west community of Wentworth Pointe. As we entered the Ashbury model, I loved walking in to find a double garage, office space and a half bathroom. I find the bathroom on the main level so convenient since our family spends so much time outside playing. This way when one of us has to go, you don’t have to drag everyone up the stairs to the bathroom! From the main level, you can either go downstairs to a basement that can be developed into an extra flex room, or head upstairs to the rest of the home.
When we walked up the stairs, we were greeted with an open floorplan with 9’ high ceilings. The kitchen was stunning. The cabinets were 42” high in a contemporary style with under-cabinet lighting. Stainless steel appliances, gorgeous lighting fixtures, a large island with an undermount stainless steel sink and a pull-out spray faucet completed the look. Just to the side of the kitchen they have a spacious dining area with a long table surrounded by windows. On the other side of the kitchen, you have another half bathroom as well as a large living room. I really love how Trico Homes used this space. On one side of the living room they have a seating area with a television for the nights you want to scroll through Netflix and on the back side of the living space they’ve added a wall mount desk and bookshelves for focused work time. I love that the area is so versatile! You can really make it your own and cater to your own needs! Just off the living room were two French doors that opened up to a large balcony that is perfect for entertaining or enjoying your morning coffee from your favourite local café! (Ladybug Café is our personal favourite!)
From the main living space, you can head up the stairs to the bedrooms. This particular Ashbury model has 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom was quite large and had a generously sized walk in closet with an impressive ensuite that had double sinks and both a soaker tub and shower stall. As you head down the hallway you have a full bathroom on one side and your stackable washer and dryer on the other with the two other bedrooms situated at the end.
We were so impressed with how much space this floorplan had and how beautifully designed it was, with high-end finishes. I loved the amount of windows in each room which filled every inch of the space with natural light. Everything in this floorplan flowed beautifully! Trico Homes definitely used this space wisely to get the best layout.
When I think of townhomes, I usually think about a tiny starter home for a first-time homebuyer BUT these Trico townhomes were so the opposite! With over 1700sq. ft., you have the option of 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each unit comes with a double attached garage, a basement AND tons of storage! All of these amazing features are so unheard of for not only townhomes, but this price range.
Trico has found such a fantastic community to call home. Wentworth Pointe is an amenity-rich community located in the prestigious upper west side of Calgary. This prime location has several great schools, both private and public, shopping centres, tons of restaurants and cafes, medical clinics along with golf courses, parks and green spaces. There are also several different veterinarians in the area if you’re a pet friendly household, like we are. Wentworth Pointe is situated close to major roads, so you can head downtown for a cocktail with friends or you can be on your way to the mountains for a getaway within 10 minutes!
These maintenance-free Trico townhomes are spacious, affordable and located in one of the best neighborhoods in Calgary. Whether you’re single, married or have a family, I definitely suggest checking them out!
