8 TOP HOME DECOR TRENDS THIS YEAR YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW ABOUT

Does anyone else really love decorating as much as I do? Whenever I'm bored in the house (and I'm in the house bored), my go-to is to redecorate areas of my home. Of course, this also means spending time researching home decor trends to see what catches my eye! Below are some of my favourite finds!

Sustainable Materials

This one should come as no surprise as more and more people strive for eco-friendly lifestyles; homes, clothes and products. I personally love natural fibre rugs, pillows, bed linen and accents. Not only do I love the lack of chemicals in each item but the environmental impact is important to our family.

Vintage Accents

Vintage accents have been popping up everywhere lately. Whether its distressed furniture or woven baskets artfully placed on the wall, reduce, reuse and recycle is a fantastic trend we all need right now!

Floral and Bold Wallpaper

Wallpaper has definitely come a long way and is making quite the comeback! Are you on the wallpaper train? I used to be a little nervous when it came to putting anything bold in my house, but I have to say that these floral wallpapers are stunning! And wallpaper nowadays can be easily put up and taken down. So, if you're like me and feared wallpaper before, it's time to take the plunge and use these stunning designs to take your rooms to the next level.

Board and Batten

This trend is a great way to finish those awkward spaces in your home. Sometimes a splash of colour just doesn't cut it and you need a little extra. Board and batten is the way to go! I love that you can get creative with this trend; on ceilings, wainscotting, entire walls etc. It's a great way to make your home look upgraded and custom.

Rattan and Wicker

Long thought of as an outdoor trend, rattan and wicker have made their way indoors. The versatile look that this trend brings can balance modern and traditional styles. The right piece can add detail in your space without adding visual weight while still looking refined and casual.

Green

Subtle colours create such a calming mood in the home and I feel that's a must, especially if you have kids, haha! Now, more than ever, people are wanting to bring the outdoors in. They want to connect back to nature and this beautiful muted-moss hue is perfect!

Matte Black Finishes

Matte Black is all the craze right now and I'm loving it. All of my hardware in my house is matte black and I find it's a great way to add a simple statement. I love the modern and minimalist look these finishes bring to a home.

Less is More

If you love a modern home like I do this trend is key. I like to start by looking at what I have out in each room. Anything that feels cluttered or non essential can be removed. I of course keep a few decorative items I love, but not a ton of them. I truly love decorating with plants! You want pieces that will stand the test of time so buying quality over quantity is important.
