A WEEK IN PARADISE WITH BARCELO MAYA GRAND RESORT

If you’re anything like me, the cooler weather hits and you are dreaming of a beach vacation. I used to be an adventurous traveller before I had my daughter, but now that she is here we are loving a new way of travelling. All-inclusive vacations are great for families with children or people looking to relax and destress on the beach. My family recently spent a week enjoying the turquoise water and coral reefs at the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort in the Riviera Maya, Mexico and it was fabulous!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort

The Barcelo Maya Grand Resort is on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean that stretches over 2km in the heart of the Riviera Maya. It is divided into 5 hotels where guests can “stay at one and play at all”. Each hotel has its own pools, kid’s zones and waterpark, restaurants, bars and beaches. Live shows entertain guests nightly and the spa is a great place to relax and feel pampered during the day. There's even a spa for children! If you crave a little more adventure, the sports and fun facilities would be something to check out. When arriving in Cancun (CUN), it is approximately a 45-minute drive to the resort and transportation can be hired through Barcelo Vacaciones at the hotel. I highly suggest doing this!

Dining Options

If you are like me, you always ask about the food when planning a vacation. I’m pleased to say that Barcelo has thought of it all! Each hotel has a snack grill, a buffet, restaurants and specialty restaurants. The dining options really are endless and the menus extensive. We found the food to be fresh and flavorful and there was never a time we left hungry. When booking into the hotel, I suggest making reservations at any of the specialty restaurants you wish to visit. These often require formal attire and book up fast, but are so worth it! Some of our favorites were the Japanese restaurant “Tokyo”, the Italian restaurant “La Trattoria Ristorante Italiano” and the Mexican Restaurant “Mexico Lindo”.

Pools and Beaches

Whether you’re a fan of white sandy beaches or more into the pool, there’s something for everyone! Each hotel boasts a children’s waterpark, expansive pools, and a well kept beach just a short walk away. Remember that guests have access to all of the resorts and so even at 90% capacity we never had to wake up early to save our chairs. The spacious property never felt overcrowded and was always very comfortable.

All Inclusive and Premium Service

I stayed in a Premium Suite during my stay and this upgrade is something I highly suggest looking into. Why go premium? From the time we arrived we were impressed with the service! Our check in at the Premium Lounge was quick and comfortable. We sipped on a cocktail and enjoyed a snack while our personalized services were explained to us. Premium rooms are spacious, have spectacular views, and unlimited room service. We loved not having to rush down for breakfast in the morning and chose to dine in our room when we woke up instead. With a toddler, it was great being close to the pool and beach so we could go back to our air-conditioned room when she needed a break from the hot sun. The large jacuzzi on our balcony was a great place to relax at the end of the day while sipping on some champagne from the complimentary snack bar in the room.

I highly suggest you consider the Barcelo Maya Grand for your next vacation! Our stay was wonderful and we will definitely be back. Thank you for having us and for sponsoring this post Barcelo Hotels and Resorts!

I've included some fun Pinterest images at the end of this post if you'd like to save them for later!
