YYC #MOMBOSS FEATURE: THE BABY NICHE

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY

I'm a wife to a Sheriff and we've been married 8 years now! A momma to three littles, 6 year old Levi, 3 year old Will and our 1 year old little Lucy. I've been a stay at home mom since having my oldest but still did hairdressing occasionally as my creative outlet and for some adult conversations. I've always been the crafty, over decorate for every holiday and birthday party type. We live on an acreage outside of Calgary that has become our little oasis and we've definitely become farm people. Which is shocking if you know me cause I am not an animal person, but am excited to be doing chickens next spring. We love to do small road trips and 'staycations' exploring what's all around us as a family.

WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?

I started this business after having my little girl and lots of friends having girls. I started with soother clips and bows as gifts, I wanted something I hadn't really seen before but something timeless and simple. After giving out lots of gifts I decided to take the leap on etsy and haven't looked back. It's been one of my greatest adventures and an amazing outlet for me through one of our hardest years. As a mom with two boys I of course had to add in bow ties and boy soother clips. Because finding cute boy accessories is hard!

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT WITH YOUR BUSINESS?

I've had a lot of little pinch me moments with this business. One of the biggest is seeing my products featured in a magazine for one of my stockists. Their business launches next month and she sent me a little preview of their feature with my bow ties and bows. But I have lots of little pinch me's every day. Blogs featuring my shop. People using my products or messaging me with pictures is my favorite. Knowing that something I made is being used and apart of their lives is amazing to me.

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED AND INSPIRED?

I set some goals for myself for my one year anniversary in November and I'm so close to hitting them that it pushes me to keep going. To do better and to keep creating. It also helps I have some of the best customers, I'm sure everyone says that but I really do! Seeing my business grow as fast as it has is also very motivation to keep going. I love thinking about where this could be in a year from now.

HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN A WORK-LIFE BALANCE?

Work and life and motherhood balance ? That's something I'm always working towards. With three kids under the age of six and a husband who works long hours, it can get messy but slowly I've learned to set hours and delegate things. Time is precious, so when I'm with family give my family, my time. When it's business hours then focus on business and go hard. Nap times and bedtimes for my kids are my business hours. Time is valuable and I've learned that over and over again this year.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOM MOMENT?

As a mother I think I have little proud moments everyday. It's my oldest jumping off the diving board for the first time and knowing that was terrifying for him. Or my middle one learning to finalllllllyyy put his shoes on the right feet. Or my baby taking her first steps. Motherhood is a constant surprise of emotions and proud moments.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST PARENTING ADVICE?

I think my best parenting advice is to just love them, love them hard for everything they are. In this crazy world, be your kids safe place. Let them be who they are, weird quarks and all. Embrace their personality and let it grow. Squish and kiss them as much as you can and teach them to be kind.
