MEET MILK+CONFETTI MOM: LISA TANG

TELL US ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

My household is me, my darling hubby (we will be celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary this year- how time flies), my son Sebastian who is 7 years old, and my son Parker who is 4 years old. I work part time as a community health nurse and this has been a great fit for my family. It allows me to go to work (hang out with other adults-very important) and also i get to spend a lot of time with my boys (very important too)!

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOM MOMENT AS OF DATE?

I think my proudest mom moment is when I see my boys being kind to others....especially when it is each other. Just the other day, Sebastian was comforting Parker after his preschool vaccination appointment, with a few kind words and his arm over Parker's shoulder as were were walking out of the clinic room. I was beaming as i was walking behind them and my heart was just so full of love for my two boys!!

WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE AS A MOM?

I think my greatest challenge as a mom so far is to "Let it go....let it go...". Sebastian just finished grade 1 this year and it was an adjustment for me that he was at school all day and to not know what he was doing! It was wonderful to see my firstborn becoming more independent but I had to learn to let him make his own decisions and to stop nagging so much! Though it is incredibly frustrating he often thinks that eating his lunch is not as important as playing on the playground!

WHAT IS ONE THING ABOUT YOUR LIFE/SELF/CHARACTER, THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO PASS ONTO YOUR CHILDREN?

I want my boys to know the importance of hard work, which was something my parents instilled in me. My parents were immigrants to Canada and encountered many struggles and challenges in their new country. They struggled so that my brothers and I did not have to and to that I am incredibly grateful. I want my boys to know it is important to try hard and be resilient when things don't work out the way they want and they need to bounce back and keep trying.

WHEN THE KID(S) GO TO BED, WHAT GUILTY PLEASURES TO YOU LIKE TO INDULGE IN?

When my boys go to bed, I grab my ipad and spend a couple of hours on the internet. It is a bad habit that results in me going to bed way later than i should!

HOW WAS BEING A MOTHER MADE YOU STRONGER?

I think being a mother has made me stronger because i think it is pretty incredible that I grew these boys in my tummy for 9 months (well, 7 months for Parker), gave birth to them, and raising them everyday. I am a stronger person because I have so much love for my little family!
